Who

Kristine Dybwad, Katrine Nylund, Ann-Tove Engenes and Åsne Midtgarden studied art at KHiB, Norway, and spent about 10 years working with exhibitions, applied arts, costume- and set design prior to founding Scandinavian Surface. The company was founded due to our growing interest in working with design, and a wish to establish a common platform where our ideas could come to life.

Where

Scandinavian Surface is located in Bergen, the second largest city of Norway. Bergen is situated on the west coast, overlooking the North Sea. The climate is mild and salty, offering weather ranging from persistently pouring rain and never-ending drizzle, to short glimpses of sunshine. Meaning: An experienced citizen of Bergen always carries an umbrella! The mountains are steep and close. Scandinavian Surface finds this climate- and territorial conditions perfect for hatching brilliant design ideas.
